Andrea

Fysio Pilates

Personal Fitness

Andrea moved to Haarlem in 2022 from Vancouver, Canada.  She is currently practicing as a performance therapist while trying to master the Dutch language, at which point she will register through the BIG as a physiotherapist.  She is also loving the opportunity to teach pilates classes, fitness classes and lead workshops on specific sports/activities and injury prevention.

Andrea has over 18 years of experience as a physiotherapist in Canada.  Growing up, Andrea played a variety of sports at competitive levels, and through her own personal experiences, understands the role that physiotherapists play in rehabilitation and return to work/sport.  She enjoys incorporating manual therapy, needling, clinical pilates and exercise prescription into her sessions, and loves working one-to-one with clients to help them reach their individual treatment goals.

Clinical pilates was something that she found to be especially beneficial for her clients and also for herself.  Using pilates exercises in rehabilitation helped clients to recover quickly from injuries and pain, and also to prevent injuries from occurring.  In her practice, she has incorporated pilates exercises on a specific, goal-directed and individual or small-group basis.

Andrea attained her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Alberta in Canada in 2006 after completing a Human Kinetics degree at the University of British Columbia in Canada.  She has taken post-graduate training in manual therapy by obtaining her Certificate of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy in Perth, Australia in 2010, and completing her Lower Quadrant Mulligan Concepts in Melbourne, Australia in 2014.  She has also done training in Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (dry needling) and vestibular rehabilitation.  She has also completed her clinical pilates training in both mat and reformer.

Andrea enjoys living in Haarlem with her husband and two children.  She loves playing soccer/football and currently plays for two teams in Haarlem.  She also enjoys running, triathlons and really all sports!  She loves traveling the world with her family and is always looking for new and exciting places to visit.
